In the weeks leading up to Christmas, I’ve had to keep my class busy. We’re not ones for sitting down and watching DVDs so it’s been this activity and that activity non-stop.
We’ve made Christmas cards, calendars, pasta wreaths, cornflakes wreaths, salt dough tree decorations, gingerbread men, coloured in, watched a few DVDs and written about snowmen. What would they do if they were a snowman at night? Why did their snowman melt?
Who knew my class could write imaginatively!?! I should give them more credit. They can probably write like this most days, but don’t feel inspired by the topic, or genre. I wish there was a way that I could incorporate more visual media into our writing topics.
My mission over the holiday is to see where I can stick it in and inspire them to be more imaginative and write like this more often…
Sounds like a New Year’s resolution to me!
